Summary: Harry’s fifth year is marked by the Ministry of Magic’s denial of Voldemort’s return. The Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, appoints Dolores Umbridge as the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts, where she enforces strict, authoritarian rules. As tensions rise, Harry forms Dumbledore’s Army, a secret group where he teaches students how to defend themselves. Harry also begins having visions of Voldemort’s thoughts and actions, which ultimately lead him to a battle at the Ministry of Magic. During the battle, Sirius Black is killed by Bellatrix Lestrange, leaving Harry devastated. Despite the Ministry’s resistance, Voldemort’s return is finally confirmed when he engages in a duel with Dumbledore at the Ministry.
